Accumulating snowfall will begin Monday, night Jan. 15, mainly after 7 p.m., and carry into Tuesday morning, Jan. 16, impacting the morning commute as it changes over to a wintry mix, the NWS said in its latest briefing.

Between 4 and 6 inches of snow was being forecast for most of North Jersey (including Morris, Sussex, pars of Bergen/Essex/Hudson, Warren, and Hunterdon Counties), greater Philadelphia, the Allentown/Reading area, and the Poconos.
The Mercer County area could see between 3 and 4 inches; the Jersey Shore will likely be getting 3 inches; and South Jersey will get a dusting of between 1 and 2 inches, the NWS said.
Snow will continue until around midnight, when it will change to a wintry mix — possibly freezing rain, the NWS said.
"The coldest air of the season thus far follows this system," the NWS said. "Temperatures drop into the teens and single digits Tuesday night, then high temperatures Wednesday mainly in the 20s with wind chill values in the single digits and teens (below zero in the Poconos)."
